アルゼンチンで見つかった恐竜の卵の化石の話です。なんでも温泉が吹き出している近くに80個以上並んでいたそうで、もしかするとその熱で卵を孵そうとしたんじゃないか、と見られています。 そんなことをしたら温泉卵になっちゃうんじゃないかって思っちゃうんですが、ニワトリに比べるとずっと厚い殻のようですから、それできっと保護してたんですね。 気になるのはどんな恐竜の殻なのか、なのですが。

Dinosaurs Nestled Up to Geysers, Hot Springs to Incubate Eggs So far, the scientists are still uncertain what species of dinosaur laid the eggs; no bones have been found that can be linked directly to the eggs. But the eggs are enormous -- over eight inches in diameter, bigger than an ostrich egg (figures at left, from the paper) -- and bones found in the region belong to the Titanosaur family, 100-ton beasts that are among the largest animals to ever walk the planet.

ということで、はっきりしないみたい。直径20cmほどもあるそうなので、きっと大きい恐竜だったのでしょう。近くでは、ティタノサウルス形類の化石が見つかっているということで……、そう、そうなんですよ。もしかして丹波竜も、昔、温泉で卵を温めていたのでしょうか。 恐竜発見現場近くには、温浴施設もあります。丹波に化石を見にいらした帰りには、ぜひ温泉につかって、恐竜の卵に思いをはせてくださいね！
